The world wide web became The Internet became the interwebs/internets became the cloud.

Bacn was just coined to reference all those emails that fill up your mailbox but aren’t quite spam. ex: Facebook notifications, registration info, confirmation emails, etc.

Now, I might be one of the only/few people to use this, but from time to time I re-purpose words or make ones up. My new phrase came when I left a slightly intoxicated voicemail message for my friend and told him my I/O tower wanted to talk to him (Tron reference). The next day I was like, THAT WAS CLEVER. Now all cell phones, pagers, things used for any sort of communication are now I/O devices. You can also use I/O’ing as a verb. “I need to go I/O with my friend!” “Catch me later and we’ll I/O” Ooh, good ole input/output.

You can see Tron (to the left), using the I/O beam on the front of the poster to communicate with his user and we ain’t talking drugs. Just bits and bytes.

Now, this is a question I really wouldn’t expect to hear come out of anyone’s mouth in the United States from someone aged 10-50, but alas it did happen. I was house sitting for a bit / crashing on their couch while I looked for a new place to live. The week they were gone, I decided to bring my 24″ iMac into the room I was staying / office… it just happened to get sammiched between TWO mounted 30″ displays. Needless to say, this confused a family friend of theirs. A little blurry, but you get the idea.

“You say… I only hear what I want to,” just came blasting out my speakers as I was playing WoW and I decided it was time to finally update. (”And I turn the radio on, turn the radio up” oh how many girls, friends and strangers alike, that I’ve sang that song with. Did you know Lisa Loeb had a show? Never saw it.)

Anyhow, the other day a reader (Ms. Em!) sent me a link to some new crazy makeup contraption that HP is making. Apparently HP has pinpointed that a girl’s biggest problem with makeup is figuring out what colors look good on her. They claim this device will be able to take a cell phone image and within seconds, text back colors the user should go purchase.

Okay, I have a few issues with this device:

1. I hope it seriously comes with a manual on proper lighting, otherwise I have no idea how they expect to get “proper skin tones” for individuals from CELL PHONE cameras.
2. Explain to me, what sort of rule of thumb colors they plan to tell customers to buy. Will it secretly be the colors in season by makeup companies sponsoring the device? Or more from the lines of “winter/spring/summer/fall” color schemes (I still don’t understand that stuff, but a chart is to the left).
3. Does it work for zombies??

I still consider my makeup skills to be that of a low level pawn (or journeymen?), so I wouldn’t actually consider a device like this that much help due to confusion of what to even put on my face. I’d MUCH rather have the device from The Fifth Element that Lelu uses to put her face on. When does THAT come out? What do you kids think?

As every good Minnesotan should, I less than three Target (<3 people! heart people!) and my veins run a deep Target Red. After only 3 months in LA last summer, I had already been to 4 Targets. Why speak of Target? It was that fateful day in which I was walking around with three really cute skirts and then came across Guitar Hero II in electronics and bought GHII (picture Wayne Campbell the day he finally bought his guitar in the movie and that was me finally buying Guitar Hero II). It was also that trip that I decided something like GirlHack should exist.

Anyhow, if for some forsaken reason you don’t know why Target is amazing and esp a good one-stop shop for GirlHacks, let me tell you. It has:

Basics: Skirts and Video Games.
Accessories: Laptop Bags & sunglasses as well as car storage & geeky dashboard lights.(Side note: are cars coming with USB ports yet?? If not, WHY NOT? My A/C is broken and my USB fan would be perfect for the car…)
Vanity Items: Covers your face and covers your floor.
PLENTY- O EMERGENCY ITEMS

All this talk about Target makes me want to go there right now and get some skirts…. and video games…

I’ve been out for a few days due to a very sudden and sad death of a family member. I’ve been staying with my “California Parents” and trying to do some fun things. Today “fun things” came by way of retail therapy.

I know I’m late to the game, but I have it now.

Yes, WoW is in the picture. This has been an inner battle for about 3 years now.

Now lets talk about the shoes. I cannot stop buying these sorts or “European Shoes” for the life of me. This is my second pair of Diesels (my first pair I bought about 4 years ago). It’s been a long time coming and the price was right at Nordstrom Rack. Just as the price was right for WoW at FRY’S ELECTRONICS! My time in that store was brief but I AM IN LOVE. Going back has jumped to the top of my list of things to do next time I have free time (and a new tire).
