If there is one piece of technology that has historically brought girls to use it, it is the phone. There are 5,000 trinkets that girls LOVE to put all over their phones while they talk to their BFF’s and get their OMG’s on… but I love my phone(s) for other reasons.

BEHOLD. My love affair with Nokia.

My Phones

Ever since I left the 2nd one out in the rain over night in three pieces and it still worked, I’ve been in love. AND, ever since my eBrick (4th one in), I’ve been obsessed with syncing my phone to my Mac. I’ve also turned into a cell phone purist after my eBrick gave me control on almost every feature. (Seriously, if you put a phone into silent mode or turn it off, does it have to make a noise??) However, not ALL Nokia phones are supported. When it came time to get a new phone, I was faced with crippled Nokia models I really didn’t want from any of the US carriers OR figuring out how to make the UK version of the e70 work (it speaks to me in a British voice and it’s amazing).

A friend of mine (!ROB! again), helped me find this blog post by Geoff Stearns. This post went well beyond saving my day. At first it didn’t work, but then I saw the comment about needing a new sim card and I sadly had to turn in my 7 year old VoiceStream card, but then it worked like magic and rainbows.

If you have a Mac and don’t sync your phone, YOU SHOULD! You should also look at ways to unlock your phone and take advantage of all the features. Besides keeping my contacts aligned, I also transmit a lot of the pictures I take on my phone to my computer for FREE via bluetooth (I hear so many times how people won’t take pictures because they have to pay/don’t understand how to get them off their phone). With this phone I can also do Wifi browsing (with a mini mouse too!), keep track of my diet, have it speak the name of the person calling, do a little GPS, etc etc. IMHO, way more bang for the buck than the new iPhone coming out.

I’ve been out for a few days due to a very sudden and sad death of a family member. I’ve been staying with my “California Parents” and trying to do some fun things. Today “fun things” came by way of retail therapy.

I know I’m late to the game, but I have it now.

Yes, WoW is in the picture. This has been an inner battle for about 3 years now.

Now lets talk about the shoes. I cannot stop buying these sorts or “European Shoes” for the life of me. This is my second pair of Diesels (my first pair I bought about 4 years ago). It’s been a long time coming and the price was right at Nordstrom Rack. Just as the price was right for WoW at FRY’S ELECTRONICS! My time in that store was brief but I AM IN LOVE. Going back has jumped to the top of my list of things to do next time I have free time (and a new tire).

I promise soon there will be more fun things on here. Give me your WoW name?

Growing up in “the cities,” the movie chain of choice was the local Mr. Movies. I have endless memories of their wide selection of VHS tapes for rent. I also know for a fact that I rented Super Mario Kart for my SNES enough times to probably own it twice over. Mr. Movies was also the only place I’ve ever heard of, that had Gameboy rentals back in the day. One of the games I used to rent (later owned and lost) was Qix.

As the tiny image reads, “Classic Arcade Action in the Palm of Your Hand”! I LOVED this game. A simple puzzle game that you try and make boxes with your little diamond guy and fill up 75% or more of the screen. However, you must avoid the Qix that darts about (and looks like the old Windows Screen Saver - Mystify - which BTW, just took me 10 minutes of Google image searching screen shots of the windows screen saver control panels because wikipedia lacks a classic screen saver section <sigh>)

According to Wikipedia, it started out on Atari and made it’s way to: Apple II’s, the Commodore, Gameboy, & NES. What is even more intersting, is the take on Jezzball being a spin-off clone of Qix. Jezzball was another game I used to spend hours playing (and SkiFree!).

You can play Qix online here.

**The sounds on this one are NOT as good as the old gameboy version. They just pretty much make you want to pop your ear drums.

You can play Jezzball online here.

Neither are as good as playing them how I used to… but it works.

Out for a few days. Peace!

My friend (!ROB!) pointed this out to me tonight:

They are HTML <HEAD> tag earrings! While I would probably only wear these if I were to become a genius at an Apple store, I know some lady friends who would probably dig them AND SO MIGHT YOU!

They came from Etsy, which I’ve actually never seen before tonight, but I’m really enjoying it right now. It’s a site to buy and sell handmade items, such as these earrings. They even have a whole “Geekery” section. Very cool.

I also enjoy these ones:

And, I might as well share the possible intro to the podcast and DAMNIT I am too tired to try and embed it or anything fancy. Click the link.
