Focus and a DS cosy. Posted by girl

By girl.

Right. Things are moving a bit slowly on here, but I’ve been out of town and then had a guest. I’ve contacted a few girlfriends of mine about helping out and actually will be doing an iChat with one of them tomorrow night about the graphics. I just need to focus the site as a whole and start prepping for filming. I want to really spread the word about this place come July (with a podcast?), but shall continue to post anyhow.

A girlhack was born in the apartment the other night. My current roommate knitted a DSlite cosy for her DS. She said she knitted a rectangle, folded it about 5/6 and sewed the sides, turned it inside out and sewed a button on it. The knit was a row of basic stitches, followed by a row or pearls, then “pearl the knits and knit the pearls”. I plan to do more about knitting in the future, but enjoy this girlhack for now:

Origins of a GirlHack Posted by girl

Last weekend I went home to Minnesota and found many examples of things a girlhack girl would have in their room. A.K.A. the juxtaposition of girly and geeky things next to each other. I forgot to snap the picture of SNES games next to workout videos in the basement, the Star Wars figures next to the American Girl dolls, or the Ethernet card manual in my bathroom draw next to hair ribbons, but you can enjoy the pictures below!

I learned well... Two web books I learned HTML from (copyright 1997!!!) and two film books next to each other.

Master Shake Floppy A clay master shake I made next to a store bought one in front of wine glasses from Tiffany’s on the top shelf. On the bottom shelf, my token old floppy disk still kickin’ it.

The box for the wine glasses (a 21st b-day present from one of my sisters). I’d also like to point out that the DDR pad was purchased on eBay with a PS2/USB adapater so I could use the open source version of DDR on my mac and not buy the game or a PS2.
Both great soundtracks.

Girls don’t keep their geek junk/cords in a box or drawer… they go in a bag!

One day, when someone besides Cheston reads this, I would love for other girls to share wild findings of “girlhack.”

Dear the person who writes the descriptions for Woot.com,

Honestly, “L3 button” gets a whole line for the description??

I love you. Babies in a few years? (I’m still finding myself right now.)

I only have two (1, 2) notches on my woot.com belt of purchases, but I check it out everyday post 10pm PST. Today’s woot is not only a steering wheel for video games, but also pedals AND the seat! Fantastic!

Now since I am 16+ (ohshitI’mturning25thisyear), I’m not quite sure how much I would enjoy this since I can go out with a real car, but it might be fun to get out all that drunk driving burning up inside of me. … Yeah! Brilliant!

Seriously kids, don’t drive real drunk (it’s lame and costly), drive this!

Check out their blog about it and comment section as where to find more once the 24hr sale is over.

Yesterday I received a package from Amazon and it pretty much contained Girl Hack in a nut shell. I bought the original Guitar Hero (game only) for PS2 and a new pink Aquis microfiber bath towel.

First, Guitar Hero. (This should be old news of how awesome it is).

When I was 4ish, I had a Transformers puzzle of Optimus Prime. eBay and Google images failed me here, but picture a puzzle with only 7 pieces of large shaped/raised plastic (2 legs, 2 arms, upper and lower torso, and head) that fit into a plastic sheet about the size of a normal piece of US paper. My brilliant 4 year old mind devised a plan to use the pieces as instruments. I thought I could have a friend bang the legs together and another friend bang the arms together. I, with my sunglasses (the lenses punched out), would play the guitar!! AKA a tennis racket. I actually attempted this plan with a few friends in my backyard under the deck and you can imagine how it went. However, I never gave up my love of playing the “tennis guitar.”

My band name on Guitar Hero: The Tennis Guitar Rock Stars.

I don’t own a PS2, but I HAD to play GHII and buy it. Then I finally broke down and got the first one too (I missed playing “All Of This”).

Bottom line: Try this game out and relive all of your 4 year old / angsty teenage years without buying a real guitar and going emo. You’ll have more fans.

Pink AwesomeAquis Towels of Love.

I’ve been addicted to these towels for the past 5-6 years. I’ve only had 2 of the body towels in that time, but 3 of the hair towels. Actually, if you are a girl with long hair, F all other bath towels. The hair twisty towel is worth its weight in PURE GOLD. I had two stolen from me in the black clothing market (laundry mat), that’s how good they are! I’m pretty sure this is the only item I would take with me on Survivor.

+ Very light weight/thin YET super absorbent (I love technology), will last for years, can get pretty big sizes to wrap around your bod.

- Not fluffy*

*If you want a fluffy towel, you’re looking at bath time all wrong. Use the hair towel, only dry off with body towel, then switch to a bath robe!! While aquis makes a bath robe, this is the time to get something extra comfy to prolong the time you run around after a shower without changing into normal clothes AND still feel comfortable.

This is probably a first in series of posts that only a few of you will read until I have real content.

Hooray for testing.
